What Class 2 does NOT protect

These look similar but belong to another class. Choosing wrong is the most common reason a trademark protects less than its owner believes.

The most expensive mistake in Class 2

The purpose of the product decides the class, not the word paint. An insulating paint or varnish is class 17, not class 2; a school paint box is class 16; and a hair dye is class 3. If your catalogue mixes industrial coatings with stationery or cosmetics, each line needs its own class.
