Marcas para el Bienestar: no campaign currently open

IMPI periodically opens this campaign with a 90% discount on the official fee, for a few days at a time. The most recent published edition was 2026-I, open from 2026-03-17 to 2026-03-27. It is aimed at: artisans, micro-entrepreneurs, older adults, people with an intellectual disability, young entrepreneurs, people without a fixed income, members of indigenous and afro-descendant peoples or communities. If you belong to one of these groups, write to us and we will let you know when the next one opens.

What Class 10 protects

  • Surgical instruments
  • Prosthetics and orthopaedics
  • Therapeutic devices
  • Dental equipment

What Class 10 does NOT protect

These look similar but belong to another class. Choosing wrong is the most common reason a trademark protects less than its owner believes.

The most expensive mistake in Class 10

A modern medical device is almost never a single class. The apparatus is class 10, the app the patient downloads is class 9 and the cloud platform that stores the data is class 42. On top of that, as in class 5, registering the trademark does not authorise the sale: medical devices require their own procedure before COFEPRIS, which runs separately and on its own timeline.

Who files in Class 10

  • Medical device manufacturers
  • Orthopaedics and prosthetics
  • Dental equipment
  • Distributors with their own label
  • Diagnostic technology

Classes commonly filed alongside Class 10

In Mexico each class is a separate application. Which classes you need depends on what your business actually does and how you plan to enter the market, not on the classes being related to each other. These show up in similar businesses, but the right list comes from your own activity.

Not sure which class you need?

A wrongly chosen class cannot be fixed later: you refile and you pay again. We review your case and tell you exactly which classes your trademark belongs in before anything is filed.
