Author

Cristian Orta Corona

Intellectual Property Lawyer, founder of Auramip

UNAM Law graduate with Honorific Mention. Over a decade registering and defending trademarks, patents and copyright before IMPI and INDAUTOR.

Cristian Orta Corona founded Auramip for the kind of client large firms tend to treat as a file number: the company that has already built something valuable and needs to protect it before somebody else registers it first. He studied law at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, graduating with an Honorific Mention, and completed the 2020 Summer Course of the World Intellectual Property Organization.

His practice covers the full life of an intangible asset: the clearance search that decides whether a mark is viable, the application before IMPI, the response to a provisional refusal, the copyright deposit before INDAUTOR, and enforcement when someone uses a sign that is already protected. He handles cross-border matters for foreign companies entering Mexico, in English and in Spanish.

He writes every article published on this site. Those pieces have the same purpose a consultation does: to explain in plain terms what Mexican law protects, which deadlines are running, and what decision is worth making before one of those deadlines closes.
